CMU’s Tepper School of Business is known as the first business school to establish a program for management science and its curriculum covers many different business topics. The main “mini” classes are in strategy, economics, accounting, management, marketing, and finance. Students are required to take additional classes in leadership communication, writing, and ethics that will allow them to develop professional skills and insight. In addition to these classes, Tepper offers over 120 electives. Tepper offers four tracks: Business Analytics; Entrepreneurship; Management of Innovation and Product Development; and Technology Leadership. Students are required to complete at least one concentration but the majority will complete three to four before graduating.
Internships are a crucial part of Tepper’s curriculum and a high percentage of students are able to obtain summer internships. The Accelerate Leadership Center is a place where students take workshops and sessions about leadership skills. Once they are admitted in Tepper, students are required to participate in a one-month long orientation, known as BaseCamp. Tepper’s center and institutes focus on research in decision making skills, leadership, technology management, environmental problems, financial services, and entrepreneurship. Tepper’s professors are Nobel Laureates and experts in their fields of study. Students can interact with alumni during networking events, such as the Alumni Mentorship Program.
